All laughs for comedy drought relief tour

THE audience at the cultural centre was in stitches on Saturday night when comedians regaled the 50-strong crowd with hilarious accounts of their everyday life.

Five comedians entertained audiences in the 10-day Wander Beyond Blue Yonder tour of the south- west, which included Roma, St George and Dalby.

Organiser Tim Bradford said the tour was a great success.

"The tour was about supporting (mental health support service) Beyondblue and local Rotary clubs to bring a night of laughs to people doing it tough in the south-west,” Mr Bradford said.

"The shows are designed to give people the night off and just have a laugh, to try and boost people's mental health as the drought continues to affect rural communities.” Comedian Nick Carr said the tour had been a blast.

"It has been really great to get out and visit people out west, listening to their stories,” he said.

"We have had great crowds in all the places we have been and I think all of us can say we would love to come back.”

St George Rotary Club president Win Salmon said Rotary had been keen to support the great cause.

"Rotary were extremely happy to be on board, along with the Balonne Shire Council,” Mrs Salmon said.
