A NUMBER of windows are coming to life in St George, as the Let's Paint the Town project is reigniting this April.

Organiser Tina Zohl said that after a break due to hot weather, the program is back up and running, earlier last month a Gecko colouring competition for all ages was run, the winner of the competition will have their colour scheme used as a template for one of the windows.

After receiving a surprising 100 entries Annabelle Rogan was announced the winner, after voting was conducted online.

"Interest in this project had really taken off since we first started the paintings.

"With the Cows by Jekka Lloyd receiving a facebook reach of 75,000+ views, shared on various other facebook pages, and several newspapers are now following the progress, with better weather and knowing tourists are on the move again, we are endeavouring to finish the remaining windows.

"The project was started to showcase the amazing talent we have in the shire, but to also give the town an additional tourist attraction.

Ms Zohl said the the project would not have been possible without funding.

"I would like to acknowledge that this would not of been possible without the financial assistance we have received from the Queensland Government and the Balonne Shire Council,” she said,

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Balonne Shire Council partnership to support local arts and culture.

Four additional windows have been base painted with Bernadette Wipple, Kirra Moore, and Rosie Carson working their magic in the coming weeks to further brighten up the town.
