Exhibition set to please audiences

SOME OF the finest art from around the region will be on display for a weekend of beauty and culture.

The annual Brush Strokes Art Exhibition will be held on Friday June 1 and Saturday June 2.

Final preparations are being made for the popular event, which is now in its sixth year.

The weekend event is held by St George Art Group Incorporated, and is the groups major fundraising event for the year.

St George Art Group press secretary Helen McKay said the event aimed to entertain people of all ages.

"We only have it once a year and it brings a bit of culture to the town,” she said.

"On the Saturday we will have coffee and cake and you can buy what is left.

"I think it is getting more popular. It is going to be really big this year.”

The opening on the Friday night is set please patrons, with a bar on offer as well has finger food throughout the evening.

The Saturday morning display will have a nice, relaxed atmosphere, with coffee and tea served.

The event will be held at the St George Cultural Centre and all paintings will be for sale.

The Friday night will cost patrons $15 for entry and will begin at 6pm.

On the Saturday, doors to the exhibition will be open from 9am-1pm and admission will be $5.
