Firefighters contain massive blaze in St George
QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services were called to a large fire on the banks of the Balonne River in St George last night.
The fire is alleged to have started at about 6.15pm with one unit of four firefighters attending the blaze and reported seeing a small area of grass and scrub engulfed in flame, encompassing an area of about 20 - 30 metres.
Firefighters on the scene then proceeded to engage in backburning, setting up containment lines so the fire could burn out safely.
Once the fire was safely contained, firefighters left the scene approximately one hour later with the fire burning safely.
