Kyrgios cops fine for obscenity during French Open collapse

TENNIS wild child Nick Kyrgios has been slugged with a $6,200 fine for an audible obscenity during his French Open thrashing at the hands of Richard Gasquet.

The 6-2 7-6 (9-7) 6-2 loss, in which Kyrgios felt he was "absolutely destroyed" by the ninth seed, confirmed a third-round exit and a payday of 102,000 euros ($A158,000).

It is the second time Kyrgios, who has career earnings of $US2,592,076 ($A3.59 million), found himself in the crosshairs of tournament officials this week, having been dealt a code violation by respected chair umpire Carlos Ramos for yelling for a towel from a ball boy during the first round.

That incident prompted a furious response from Kyrgios, who accused the umpire of "unbelievable bias" and described his decision as "f**king bullshit".

Kyrgios escaped any financial punishment for that eruption, but was not as fortunate on Saturday when officials gathered to review Friday's matches.
