Man accused of bashing his father in violent street fight

A NUMBER of people called Triple 0 on Saturday night in response to a man who was fighting people on Milton St, Byron Bay.

About 10.35pm police arrived and found a 54-year-old man lying unconscious on the road.

A 32year-old man from Beenleigh in Queensland was arrested for assault.

Police said he was the son of the victim.

The victim was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital by ambulance due to concerns about a serious head injury.

Scans later revealed there was no serious injury and the victim was later released from hospital.

His son was charged at Byron Bay Police Station for a range of assault offences and was given conditional bail to appear at Byron Bay Local Court on the June 9.

Police have spoken with a number of witnesses over the incident.
