Man charged over drought relief fraud totalling $95,000

POLICE have charged a man who allegedly made fraudulent applications to the State Government's Drought Relief Assistance Scheme totalling $95,000.

Investigators from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Rural (Charleville) laid the 23 charges after a protracted investigation into the 43-year-old St George man's three applications to the scheme.

It will be alleged that fraudulent claims were submitted to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries relating to the Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate from 2013 to 2017.
