Mungindi races hit home
RACING: Mungindi was a sea of colour and fun on Saturday, as punters flocked to the New South Wales border to witness an exciting six-race program.
On a clear-blue afternoon, the event was hosted by the Mungindi Jockey Club with Cavitation winning the B&W Rural and Namoi Cotton Mungindi Cup, ridden by Geoff Snowden.
Annette Heagney, from the Mungindi jockey club, said the afternoon was a great occasion, bringing the region closer together.
"It was a great day of racing by the river and was another wonderful, uplifting event for the community of Mungindi.”
While the action on the racetrack was a drawcard in itself, the fashions on the field proved equally as popular, with local girl Loretta Walker winning Best Dressed Female, while Tom Hudson from the UK took out the men's title.
For service over many years, Stephen and Sandra Sykes were gifted a lifetime membership to the club,
Guests were treated to an exquisite President's Luncheon, hosted by Helen Howse, with delicious food enjoyed track-side in the sun.
