Patient assaults nurse during hospital 'disturbance'

DETECTIVES have charged a woman after a nurse was allegedly assaulted at a Brisbane hospital yesterday.

At around 6:30pm, police responded to a disturbance involving a female patient in a ward at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in Herston.

Police will allege during the course of the disturbance a female nurse was assaulted.

A 62-year-old female nurse was treated for bruising to her hip.

A 44-year-old Lutwyche woman has been charged with one count each of serious assault of a public officer performing function causing bodily harm, wilful damage and possession of a knife in a public place.

She is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 29.
