PREVIEW: Game of Thrones S6E6 Blood of My Blood

SEASON six of Game of Thrones has been moving along at a cracking pace, and there's plenty more to come.

Australian actress Essie Davis continues her guest role as a stage actress whom assassin-in-training Arya is asked to kill. Other action will include a showdown at King's Landing and the White Walkers' pursuit of Bran and Meera.

Here are three key scenes to look out for in today's episode, Blood of My Blood:

Jaime's showdown with the High Sparrow

THIS entire season has been building to the Lannisters' showdown with the High Sparrow, the religious fanatic Cersei mistakenly helped rise to power.

The Lannisters have made a shaky alliance with the Tyrells to help Queen Margaery avoid doing the same walk of shame Cersei had to endure last season.

But will their plan of bringing in the Tyrell's forces be enough to overthrow the High Sparrow and his armed followers or will the wider city rebel against the Lannisters? They're not exactly known for being very nice rulers.

And the Tyrells, headed by matriarch Lady Olenna, are likely to have a backup plan as well after managing to eliminate King Joffrey.

Bran on the run with Meera

Last week's episode ended with the dramatic battle between Bran Stark and his small number of followers and the army of White Walkers.

Fan favourite Hodor was sacrificed to help Bran and Meera escape, but will they last long out in the frozen wilderness?

The episode six trailer appears to show the White Walkers pursuing them into a forest, where a desperate Meera apologises to Bran.

Hopefully this will be a watershed moment when we can finally see what made Bran so special in the eyes of the Three Eyed Raven and what he can really do with those special abilities.

Daenerys takes what she wants

Fresh, and unburnt, from her triumph over the Khals, Daenerys now has a new horde of Dothraki followers in tow as she makes her way back to Meereen.

Her loyal servant Jorah has set out to find a cure for his grayscale, or at least quarantine himself, and her lover Daario seems to be in even more awe of her.

In the episode trailer he declares her a conquerer while she insists she's just taking what is hers.

The episode's title hints at a return, at least in flashback form, of Daenerys's late husband Khal Drogo. Instagram posts by actor Jason Momoa hint at his return this year.

And if we do see her return to Meereen, how will she feel about the way Tyrion has been running things in her absence?

Game of Thrones airs today at 11am on Foxtel's Showcase channel.
