Saints came close
RUGBY LEAGUE: Last Sunday, the St George Saints travel north to take on Roma Cities.
Under-16s put in a great effort, but were unsuccessful in beating Roma, with the score ending up 78-12.
Lockie Pollock scored two tries and took home the Vanderfields Man of the Match.
In U18s, Adam Parkes was a valuable addition getting the boys on the board and Lathan Cubby’s conversion made the final score 58-6.
Lathan made many tackles and took home the Aboriginal Housing Co’s Man of the Match.
Unfortunately with a few players out for Reserve Grade, the boys played well under the conditions, but ended up going down to Roma 22-6, with Dan Dwyer scoring right under the posts.
Walker’s Mechanical and Safeway Excavations’ Man of the Match went to Toby Dimond.
Then, the clock struck 3pm for A-grade and swiftly followed the boot of a Roma player as they kicked off to St George.
Jaiden Davis was the first to score for the Saints, followed by a try to brother Sam Davis.
Teamwork saw the Saints back in their 30, after kicking off to Roma, allowing Keenan Cordrey to score in the corner.
Reagan Morris ran in one last try just on the half-time buzzer and a successful conversion brought the Saints ahead into the second half at 24-16.
Trent Duncan and Charlie Adams both scored great tries in the second half and even though Charlie nailed his kicking game (six from six).
Cities put a few more points on the board, finishing the game 46-36.
RSL Man of the Match went to Reagan Morris and Handystore’s to Trent Duncan.
