St George police pushing their way towards goal
HAVING completed 934 push-ups last week, St George police are currently the 27th ranked fundraising team in Australia for the Push Up Challenge, all in the name of mental health.
Sergeant Steven Love and fellow police received a visit to their traffic operation site on the Carnarvon Highway on Saturday from Brian McCullock.
The treasurer of the St George Masters Rugby League presented a $1000 cheque towards the team, to go to Headspace.
"The St George police team are currently the leading fundraising team from over 20 various police teams around Queensland,” Sgt Love said.
"The team is currently the 27th ranked fundraising team in Australia.
"Our team have now set their sights on breaking into the top 20 fundraising teams in Australia before the challenge ends on July 28.”
Over 21 days, participants must perform 3128 push-ups, one for every life taken by suicide in 2017.
At the time of publication, the team had raised $2540 for Headspace.
