St George welcomes new doctor to its ranks

ST GEORGE is to welcome a new face, with doctor Ashleigh Walker arriving in town in May.

South West Hospital and Health Service executive director of medical services Dr Chris Buck said Dr Walker was one of two new staff members in the southwest, with Dr Talia Trigger joining the Surat Multipurpose Health Service in early April.

"Dr Trigger and her husband Joel will be living in Surat once she takes up her appointment there,” Dr Buck said.

Dr Buck said the appointment of Dr Walker at St George would expand the medical establishment in the town from four senior doctors to five, helping to decrease wait times and boost service.

"The increase in the number of doctors at St George will help meet local demand for services both at the hospital and at the local bulk-billing general practice, the St George Medical Centre, where they also work when not delivering services at the hospital,'' Dr Buck said.
