Tributes flow for young man killed in ute fall

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy who died after falling from the back of a ute at the Bowenville Reserve at the weekend has been remembered for his "pure heart" and "contagious smile".

Highfields State Secondary College student Mac Allen was standing in the tray of a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Centenary Heights man just after midnight on Sunday morning, when he fell onto bitumen.

He was transported to Toowoomba Hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries this morning.

Tributes have flowed in for the well-loved student, with a GoFundMe page set up for his family raising $12,400 in a matter of hours. At time of print, the page had been shared 1800 times.

Close school friend Luke Kelly said Mac was a vibrant young man with the most contagious smile in the crowd.

"I'm heartbroken to say goodbye to my beautiful boy," Luke said.

"I'd sacrifice anything to hear his voice one more time, or his quirky laugh, or to even see that unique smile one more time.

"I'll hold you in my heart forever and always buddy, a piece of me has gone with you. Keep shredding little dude, I love you."

Another school friend Olivia Quaile said many were in shock at his sudden passing.

"Mac was the person you would always want to surround yourself with," Olivia said.

"He had such a pure heart and would help anyone in need.

"He taught me how to live in the moment, how to live as if any day could be your last."

The Forensic Crash Unit continue with their investigations into the incident.
