Women in League comes to town
The St George Rugby League club will be hosting their annual 'Women in League' day this Saturday at Rowden Park.
Organisers Fiona Jones and Di Gracie said the club are trying to make the day as women orientated as possible whilst raising money for the community.
"Last year the 'Women in League' concentrated their fund raising efforts on the importance of stamping out Domestic and Family Violence, with the proceeds being donated to RizeUp,” Ms Gracie said.
"This year the focus of the fundraising for 'Women in League' is on Men's Mental Health /Depression.
"Mental illness can be serious, if not addressed and it can have a devastating toll on families and loved ones. Some of the day's proceeds will be donated locally to help anyone who needs the services associated with this illness.”
On the day the 'Women in League' will be running a Women's tent from noon, with entry to the tent being $15, which includes a complimentary glass of wine or champagne, nibbles and a light lunch to enjoy while watching the afternoon games.
At the conclusion of the games, there will be an auction of 2 signed and framed jerseys.
One of these is a 2011 State of Origin jersey signed by Darren Lockyer and the other is a Melbourne Storm 2017 jersey signed by the Big 3, Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk.
The band "Back in Business,” who featured at the Paul Kelly and friend's concert, will be playing after the auction of the jerseys.
There will be a courtesy bus running.
