BALLERINAS from Maranoa Performing Arts travelled recently to participate in regional workshops with the Queensland Ballet.

Principal Fiona Gaske said the performing arts school was strengthening in both numbers and talent.

She also said she was extremely proud of the girls who participated and said it was a "brilliant opportunity to learn from professional dancers as well as mix with peers outside of the school and build on their technique.”

"It's wonderful that families recognise the value of opportunities such as these,” Mrs Gaske said.

"As with any sport, this form of training requires dedication and it always impresses me that our families are supportive and understanding of this.”

The school has had a momentous year, with its annual concert delighting audiences in June.

"It is important to me that the students have the experience of performing and engaging in the journey of preparation for the concert,” she said.

"It gives them the confidence to dance well knowing they've done the hard work.

"It can be hard to fully understand the level of detail and organisation that is required to put on such an event for such large numbers of students and families.

"Thankfully though we have an amazing team with the school administration officer, Mrs Laura Ballin, and a core group of very clever and very generous mums and dads,” Mrs Gaske said.

For students, though, it is all systems go for their examinations in September, with preliminary workshops for next year's concert also beginning.

"Right now though the girls are rolling up their tights for some modern lyrical pieces which they are all enjoying,” she said.
